The USA INDOOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS, SPONSORED BY TOYOTA,
RETURN EAST FOR THE FIRST TIME IN FOUR YEARS AND IT WILL BE TERRIFIC SEEING OUR GREAT CLUB WELL REPRESENTED IN THIS MAJOR CHAMPIONSHIP MEET. ACTION IS SCHEDULED FOR THE OUTSTANDING OCEAN BREEZE FACILITY ON FATHER CAPPODANO BOULEVARD WITHIN SIGHT OF THE VERRAZZANO NARROWS BRIDGE, STATEN ISLAND, NYC, FRIDAY-SATURDAY-SUNDAY, FEB 22-23-24, 2019.. MANY OF US COMPETED AT THIS GREAT LOCATION SUNDAY, FEB. 10TH, IN THE NEW JERSEY-NEW YORK USATF ASSOCIATION OPEN AND MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIPS AND WE ALL DID FINE THINGS IN OUR RESPECTIVE AGE CATEGORIES. WE SEEMED TO BE REPRESENTED IN NEARLY EVERY EVENT and NUMEROUS AGE BRACKETS AND MAY HAVE ROLLED UP A ZILLION TEAM POINTS. WE ARE AWAITING FINAL TABULATIONS ON THIS. THIS WAS ONE DAY AFTER DOING VERY GOOD THINGS AT THE MILLROSE GAMES, AT THE ARMORY, AND THE DAVID HEMERY CLASSIC AT BOSTON UNIVERSITY. THE USA INDOOR NATIONALS WERE LAST HELD IN THE NORTHEAST, AT BOSTON IN 2015. THEY WERE LAST HELD IN NYC, AT THE ARMORY IN 2002. PRIOR TO THAT, THEY WERE A TRADITIONAL FIXTURE AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN 1970 TO 1993, AND BEFORE THAT AT THE GARDEN, 1927 TO 1965. NOW LOOKING AHEAD, AS OF MONDAY NIGHT, FEB. 11, THESE ARE OUR SHORE AC ENTRIES IN USA NATIONALS FEB. 22-24: »Kristin E. Andrews women's 600. »Chelsea L. Conway, women's 3000m racewalk »Michael J. Cyphers, men's pole vault »Scott J. Houston, defending champion in men's pole vault. »Craig T. Hunter. men's pole vault »Je'von J. Hutchison, men's 300 »Kristopher P. Kornegay-Gober, men's high jump »Richard J. Luettchau, II, men's 3000m racewalk »Jill J. Marois, women's pole vault »Amina C. Smith, women's high jump We hope all of our teammates are officially accepted into the meet and await final decisions by the USATF games committee. If a non-scoring men's sprint medley event is included on the Friday program, we may be represented in that event, also. It remains a possibility. And, of course/of course/of course. we will be rooting for our distinguished Shore AC Alumni athletes;;;; Olympian Ajee' Wilson, women's 600 Olympian Robby Andrews, men's 1000. We'll be cheering for these Monmouth University athletes, too: Allie Wilson, women's 1000. Brianna Stratz, women's 1000. Corey Murphy, men's shot put. And our many/many/many friends from around the track and field universe. Several of us will be there officiating, too. THIS WILL BE A GREAT MEET TO WATCH, TOO. WE ENCOURAGE YOU ALL TO COME ON OUT TO THE MEET TO CHEER ON OUR TEAMMATES AS WELL AS THE NATION'S BEST.
