Shore AC Open Women's Team Runs Away with Harrington Park 5K
Our Shore AC Open Women team has established a tradition of winning USATF-NJ LDR championship races. Having already prevailed in 4 of the 5 events in the 2025 Grand Prix, our gals were eager to make it 5 of 6 with a victory in the Harrington Park 5K. They came through with flying colors!
Shore AC torpedo Kerry Dyke led the way. With a series of tremendous accomplishments already this year, both on the road and on the track, the 28-year-old Dyke was primed to go big. Kerry dusted the field by over a minute, wrapping up the first-place banner in a smoking-hot 17:39. Next to cross the timing mat for the ladies in white singlets was 46-year-old Allison Lemanksi. She has made important contributions to Shore AC teams in her first year with the club. At Harrington Park, her superb time of 20:38 strengthened the team's competitive advantage over the four other teams in the race. That advantage grew bigger when 70-year-old world-class running phenomenon Nora Cary crossed the finish line in 21:49. Among the other four teams in the race, only Nancy Halper of Fleet Feet / Essex raced faster (21:30). Nora's stupendous age grading of 95.8% exceeded that of all other racers, including a 94.5% from the 57-year-old sensation out of New York, Fiona Bayly. With three runners across the finish line, Shore AC partisans scanned the scenery for the team's fourth scorer. It wasn't long before rookie delight Patricia Kavanagh came into view and sped briskly across the endline in 26:08 to lock down the fourth scoring spot. All that Shore AC needed now was a fifth lady to complete open team scoring. Meanwhile, however, harriers from rival teams streamed through the finish chute. In fact, by the time the digital clock at the finish line read 28:35, two other teams had all five scoring members in the barn. Where was Shore AC's fifth and final scorer? Suddenly, SAC fans breathed a sigh of relief. There was Luz Ravines! Having fought a valiant battle all year against debilitating back pain, Luz courageously crossed in 28:51. That was more than enough to secure victory for the ladies from Shore AC!!!
